Q. Can I make a roommate request?
We do our best to honor roommate requests. Please state your request clearly on your application. If you do not have a request, assignments are made by similar grade. Should you have any problems during the week with housing, speak to our on-site director immediately.
Q. How do we get to the fields every day?
Each day we will have private buses take our players from their dorms to our facilities and return them after each session. All attending players are to travel together as a group, and no cars to and from sessions are allowed.
Q. We want to send our whole team. Can we train and play as a group? Yes, for the most part we encourage groups to stay as a group particularly in the large sided games. However, we also do individual technical work and small-sided games that will require splitting groups on occasion. Also, if we feel that one particular group is much too strong we will make changes to make games more competitive.
Q. Will we play only soccer all the time?
No, there will be sessions with our strength and conditioning training staff that we use at the University of Delaware. We will also have periods where players and coaching staff will talk as a group and individually about the college process and our current College players will chat with the campers about what life is like as a student-athlete in College.
Residential players will have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Extended day campers will be offered lunch and dinner. We also have discounted deals with a local pizzeria for the players to snack at night, and there is an on-site store where items can be bought.
Q. Where are the extended day campers to go in the morning?
Extended day campers will meet the group at the UDEL fields and will depart from there in the evening after our evening games?
Q. Is there medical Staff Available?
Trainers will be with the group at all times during the sessions. We will also have a meeting with campers on what to do in an emergency to ensure prompt care and response.
Q. What are the supervision arrangements in the dorms?
University of Delaware coaches/counselors have assigned rooms on every floor of every dorm. They will be made known to every camper should they have need of assistance at any time 24 hours a day.
The University also has its own on-site Police department and medical facilities for emergency’s.
Q. What happens if I lose my electronic key card for the dorm?
If you lose your dorm access card you will be charged $113.00 core change fee by the University. This is a fee set by Residence Life at the University of Delaware, and not by our camp.
Q. How do I get directions to the dorms and the fields?
The directions to both the Laird Campus dorms and the soccer fields are on our web-site at www.delawaresoccercamps.com
Q. Are the dorms Air Conditioned?
Yes, our dorms are Air conditioned and have heating should the need arise.
Q. How does my child contact me/I contact my child?
· There are public phones in most common areas if your son does not have a cell phone. Calling cards are encouraged so there is no “spare change” issues. Our staff will be happy to assist with the calling card use.
· Our camp director, Ian Hennessy, will give you a contact number that
he can be reached at throughout the week 24 hours a day.
